TEST YOUR SKILLS AS A BARTENDER & COMPETE TO WIN EVERY WEEK!

Every Monday in September from 3-7pm we will be testing the skills of some of the best local bartenders around in different aspects of bartending. Each week competitors can compete to win and see how they compare to their peers in a fun competition celebrating the many talents of our local bartenders.

Each week we will award 1st place with $300, 2nd place with $150 and 3rd place with $50. There will be a special overall prize for whomever scores the most out of the four weeks as well. Starting off with…

9/5 Week#1 Accuracy (Enter as many times as you like that day for $5 each)
Competitors will compete in one round showcasing their talents in accuracy. Competitors will be tested on how accurate and quickly they can free pour 7 different amounts of liquid from two bottles using one or both hands.

The competitors will not know the different amounts of pours until they arrive at Tiki ‘Ono on Monday September 5, 2016. You can pre-register if you like and pay by credit card for one round of accuracy for week 1 by using the link below.

9/12 Week#2 Speed (Enter as many times as you like that day for $5 each)
Competitors will compete in one round showcasing their talents in speed bartending. Competitors will be tested on how accurate and quickly they can make several different cocktails as clean and efficiently as possible.

Speed Round Cocktails

Spiced Daiquiri
1 1/2oz Kraken Spiced rum
3/4oz Finest Call Lime Sour
3/4oz Rèal Pumpkin Spice
Glass: Coupe
Garnish: Lime wheel
Shake ingredients with ice, strain into coupe glass.

2 Gin & Tonics
1 1/4oz Boodles Gin
Fill wit tonic
Glass: Rocks
Garnish: Lime wedge & 2 sip stix
Build ingredients in rocks glass over ice.
(You are making two of these cocktails)

Margarita
2oz Maestro Dobel tequila
1oz Triple Sec
1oz Finest Call Lime Sour
1/2oz Rèal Agave syrup
Glass: Tall
Garnish: Lime wheel & large straw
Shake ingredients with ice, strain into salt rimmed highball glass.

Chilled Shot of Hangar One Vodka
1oz Hangar One vodka
Glass: Shot
Garnish: None
Shake ingredient in a mixing tin with ice and strain into shot glass.

Long Island Iced Tea
1/2oz Hangar One vodka
1/2oz Boodles gin
1/2oz Kraken Spiced rum
1/2oz Maestro Dobel
splash of Triple Sec
2oz Finest Call Lemon Sour
Top with coke
Glass: Tall & large straw
Garnish: Lemon wedge
Combine all ingredients (except coke) in a mixing tin with ice. Shake and strain into a tall glass with ice. Top with coke.

Deductions
Spills: +1 seconds
Missing/Wrong Ingredient: +3 seconds
Wrong Glass: +3 seconds
Wrong Proportion: +5 seconds
Wrong Procedure: +15 seconds
Missing Drink: (2 or more ingredients) Disqualified for that round
Being a D*ck: Disqualified

The competitors can rearrange the bar any way they like as long as they are only using the equipment provided. Tins and glassware must start face down. 9/19 Week#3 Mixology (Enter one time that day for $5)
Competitors will compete in one round showcasing their talents in Mixology. Competitors will be tested on their abilities on creating an original cocktail showcasing the sponsors in the six minute time allotted.

Competitors will be judged on…
Taste: 25 points.
Presentation: 25 points.
Originality: 25 points.
Sponsor Showcased: 25 points.
Drink name: 10 points.

The competitors can rearrange the bar any way they like are encouraged to bring their own equipment and glassware. We will only be supplying plastic cups and standard ice. Competitors must use at least 1oz Bayou Rum (either Bayou Silver, Bayou Select or a combination of both) and 1/2oz of any Rèal Syrup. Ingredients are limited to six ingredients including garnish. No homemade ingredients allowed. Competitors must bring all ingredients to showcase their original cocktail except the Bayou Rum and Rèal Syrup.

Competitors must make 4 identical cocktails on stage and email their full recipe to “contact@tiki-ono.com“.

The winning cocktail will be featured at Tiki ‘Ono the rest of the week. Registration for this week is limited to the first 15 people to sign up and pre-register and pay by credit card for Mixology for week 3 by using the link below.

9/26 Week#4 Flair (Enter one time that day for $5)
Competitors will compete in one round showcasing their talents in Flair bartending. Competitors will be tested on their abilities on their Flair and entertaining abilities while creating an original cocktail showcasing the sponsors in the six minute time allotted.

The competitors can rearrange the bar any way they like are encouraged to bring their own equipment and glassware. We will only be supplying plastic cups and standard ice. Competitors must use at least 1oz Stoli Gluten Free and 1/2oz of any Rèal Syrup. Ingredients are limited to six ingredients including garnish. No homemade ingredients allowed. Competitors must bring all ingredients to showcase their original cocktail except the  Stoli Gluten Free and Rèal Syrup.

Competitors will be judged on…
Cocktail Points
Taste: 25 points.
Presentation: 25 points.
Originality: 25 points.
Sponsor Showcased: 25 points.
Drink name: 10 points.

Flair Points
Difficulty: 25 points.
Originality: 25 points.
Showmanship: 25 points.
Smoothness: 25 points.

Deductions
Spills: 1 point.
Drops: 2 points
Breaks: 5 points.
Being a D*ck: Disqualified.
